The recent iF International Design Award ceremony in Berlin witnessed a historic moment for Sri Lanka.  Elektrateq, a visionary Sri Lankan company led by CEO Dr. Harsha Subasinghe, shattered barriers by winning the prestigious award for their revolutionary electric three-wheeler ETX. This marks the first time a Sri Lankan design has received this coveted recognition, signifying a significant leap forward in the country’s design and engineering capabilities.

The vision for Elektrateq is clear: to revolutionize sustainable transportation across South Asia.  Designed by the talented team at Vega Design Studio, spearheaded by Dilnath Deegala, the ETX represents a perfect synergy of functionality, affordability, and environmental consciousness. This isn’t a mere update on the traditional three-wheeler; the ETX boasts a modern, futuristic design that breaks away from convention. Its sleek, car-like aesthetic makes a bold statement, signifying a paradigm shift in urban mobility solutions.

The ETX by Elektrateq transcends aesthetics. It’s a testament to Sri Lanka’s promising design and engineering ability. A team of highly skilled Sri Lankan engineers, including Madura Herath (Director of Mechanical Engineering) and Kasun Siriwardhana (Director of Electronics), played a pivotal role in bringing the ETX to life. Their expertise showcases the nation’s growing strength in both design and engineering. With a team of over 150 engineers and technicians, the ETX by Elektrateq represents the culmination of progress, innovation, and a deep commitment to a sustainable future for urban transportation.

The iF Design Award isn’t merely a recognition of design excellence; it signifies the transformative potential of the ETX.
